Thank you @flexcut.tools for the recent little surprise in the mail! 🖤

They have come out with a knew tool set just in time for me carrying on trying to learn woodcut printing! 👀

I appreciate the detailed V tool in this and I can't wait to carry on my journey with the medium! 👩🏻‍🎨

I'm definitely finding it more different to lino than I was expecting, and a little tricky to figure out what I like about it, but it just means I need to play with it lots! 🌷

I always find it tough when I'm not good at something straight away, or the images in my head don't immediately translate to a new medium, you always think it's the end of the artistic journey altogether haha! 😅

At least I have the best tools at my disposal! 😉

I am back from my time away starting off strong with more lovely news of shows I will be part of in the next few months! 🖤

It's such a joy that my print "Never Turn Your Back on a Policeman", was selected for the International Original Print Exhibition at the @re_printmakers this year! 🙌🏻

This print as you may remember is based on stories surrounding The Wapping Dispute, that I found in the archival material @bishopsgateinstitute! 👀

This was such a monumental series of prints for me as it delved deep into the history of printmaking as a trade. It opened my eyes to the violence that comes with any fight for labour rights and the dignity of workers, especially in the face of technological advancements (perhaps very relevant to consider these days)! 🙆🏻‍♀️

I am currently planning a week fully off next week as I desperately need a break to properly recharge! 👀

I've done so much this year which is so exciting, and so many more exciting things are coming when I'm back, including some new work I'm planning for my upcoming solo show aaaa! 🖤

But I need to step back and fill my well so that my creative juices keep flowing, I feel it in my bones! 🫣

This print is always a reminder to take it step by step when I'm back, I love making larger works from smaller works and building them up like a collage!

Printmaking has really taught me to my core to accept imperfections and "failures" as part of a larger process! There is nothing better than when your print finally turns out the way you imagine it should! 🙌🏻

Most of the time my artist proofs are the initial tests I try with my blocks while I'm working on a new print, testing colours and papers! 🌷

Sometimes, it will be prints where something happened in the process that caused them to be too different from the edition, like a smudgy effect, or areas where the ink didn't take! 👀

This time though I just tried a new composition, with the intention of making a new edition, but didn't like it as much as I thought I would! 🙅🏻‍♀️

But I love playing around with blocks in my studio, and really love all the prints I made from these ones!

Anyway you can find this one in the seconds sale for @supersecondsfestival if you perhaps disagree with me and like it! 😅

It's called Demon Friends, and the inspiration of course always starts from the @draw_brighton life models! 🌿

I have definitely felt like I have been fighting my own demons lately, mainly overworking and not listening to my body! 🌷

So this one is reminding me to make friends with the parts of me that push too hard! 👀

While my weeks have been full of admin (for many upcoming exciting things), I have again blocked out the week after just for art making and I am praying that I will get to make some new work! 🙅🏻‍♀️
