What are original prints? How do they differ from digital prints?Original prints are prints made by the artist's hand, through original printmaking techniques. I specialise in linocut prints, which are handcarved by me using knives, and then printed using ink, rollers, and a printing press. Each print is therefore unique through this process, and I often make them painterly to achieve this. Etchings are made by inscribing a metal plate with marks, and then using acid baths to etch these marks into lines that can hold ink. The plate is then printed by hand, by pressing ink into the lines, and wiping away excess ink. Here again, each print in the edition is unique. Follow me on instagram to see these processes, I have so many videos! https://www.instagram.com/moatzaart/

Do you ship worldwide? Do you ship to the EU?Yes I ship worldwide, including the EU! You might have heard of new GPRS legislation which has affected many small businesses shipping to the EU, but I am compliant and can continue doing so! Furthermore, original prints are exempt from this legislation, and my merch is extremely low risk! Contact me beforehand if you have any specific requests in how you would like me to ship something so it gets to you easier! What are the customs fees if I am from the EU or USA?For different countries within the EU, there are no customs fees for original art, but there are VAT fees, which for original art only (ie all my original prints) are reduced to 5% (instead of the usual 20%). So for my original prints shipped to the EU the only fee should be the 5% VAT charge on top of the price of item (this varies per country). Any of my merch items (t shirts, tote bags, etc) will have the 20% VAT charge added on top, and a 8%-12% customs charge, and these vary per country! I am very careful in filling out the documentation so hopefully these are kept to a minimum! For USA, there are no fees whatsoever when buying original art from the UK! This also extends to merch when your entire order is under $800! You as the customer will be responsible for paying any fees upon receiving the work. * I am currently working on finding ways of shipping where I can incur this cost myself, and ship it straight to you. If you are planning on making a larger purchase and are worried about fees, do contact me as I may be able to offer a discount on your order, to keep these to a minimum. ** I should also add that this information can change, and while I try to stay up to date, so many countries treat this differently, and have different border controls which might be more strict than others. If you were surprised by the amount you had to pay do contact me and perhaps I can again help and contribute!

How can your art be valuable if you are selling multiple items? As explained previously, all original prints involve the hand of the artist, firstly in preparing the plate, and then printing that plate using rollers or other methods, making every print unique. My editions are most often limited editions of 30 or 50 prints, and they are always closed editions, meaning I will not print that image again more than that, and they are numbered and signed. Prints also come with a certificate of authenticity which is also signed and numbered!

Is your packaging secure? How do you package your items?I have shipped hundreds of prints worldwide, and have never had an issue with damage! The prints are backed by cardboard multiple times, and snuggly fitted into packages perfect to their size!

Is your packaging sustainable? How about the rest of your business? My packaging is entirely plastic free except for a small vinyl sticker, or where plastic is involved, such as bubble wrap, this has been reused and repurposed! I do not buy bubble wrap new! If there are ever plastic sleeves (which is rare), these are compostable! The linoleum I use for carving my prints is made from a mixture of linseed oil and wood pulp, making it environmentally friendly, and I very rarely use other vinyls!
