Some snippets from when I carved Jade Dreams of Change, currently framed at @greenwichprintmakers! 🖤

I remember it being so lovely to carve, and it being a print where I finally felt like the block was listening to me, and I could make whatever I picture materialise! 👀

One of my favourite prints to this day, always showing me that change isn't bad, it's just a natural constant of life! 🌿

I am working with wood for the first time these days, and it's so interesting trying to learn to have the same flow with a new medium! 🙈

Throwback to last summer when I was making my first multiblock wood engravings! 🌿

They are now up on my site in the wood engravings section of my shop! 🌷

This is just the wood block itself, and the wood engraving tools and baren I used while printing! 🖤

I am realising I have so much more creative energy when the sun is out! Though it does also make me want to be outside so there's the double edges sword! 👀

Here is a little story about my art making vs the business side of being a printmaker! 🖤

All last year I got swept away in doing any and all exhibitions, re-designing my website, alongside everything I already do, and the art making fell to the side! 🌿

With the time for applying for shows, emails, packing and framing I ended up working all the time which is so unsustainable! 😅

I was pretty shocked to realise that in chasing a certain version of success, art making, and making new prints, which is the whole reason I work so hard, started seeming too slow, and not as urgent. 🙈

I want to be more intentional this year, so I am making some changes, all to prioritise making new prints, and my wholesale range. 👀

I don't know how interesting this post is, but I just thought I'd share the behind the scenes a bit! Most of the time it feels like I actually work in marketing, graphic and web design or SEO, haha! 🐈‍⬛

I have a couple of huge printing days coming up, as some of my larger multicoloured prints need to be restocked! 🌿

So here are some clips from my last printing day! 👀

All my prints are limited edition, but I don't print the whole edition all at once! 🙈

Which means I have a huge spreadsheet that tells me where I am in the edition, and I have a monthly huge printing session, where I print as many as 60 prints in one day, restocking things! 🌷

During those sessions, as long as the inks are already out, I try to get as much as possible out of them, and print as much as I can! 😅

This is so the rest of the time I can focus on making new prints instead, carving and drawing, then those new blocks can be printed properly on the next printing session!

An ode to pulling the first print! 🌿

I have an inkling that every printmaker will attest to the fact that pulling the first print is the most magical part of the process! 🖤

Especially I should say when it all goes right, and everything looks as it should! 👀

This really is what made me fall in love with printmaking, the fact that no matter how much you work on the block itself, when the print is pulled, it will always have an irreplaceable graphic quality that is always a bit of a surprise! 🌷

It never stops being joyful, especially the more you different processes that involve many stages of working before finally being able to print!

I have been preparing for a group exhibition @aspexportsmouth as part of their Aspire cohort! 🖤

While I have been working on some larger woodcut prints as well, inspired by Beatrice Warde's "This is a printing office", the space inspired me to present my small letterpress galley alongside them! 👀

As I was thinking of ways to introduce some letterpress elements with the work, I remembered I had a couple of small type sets myself, and started playing around with them! 🌿

And as usual, working with the limitations of the medium produced some of the most interesting results!

I could only compose a few sentences, so I practiced thinking of some slogans I would want for myself these days. 🌷

While working, I was so impressed with the impact these small reminders had, so I will be printing a few for people to be able to take with them!

And I also realised this means I could have a couple of interactive workshops inviting people to compose their own! 🙌🏻

The show will be on from the 4th of March to the 29th of April, so mark your calendars!
